Wherever he is, I hope he’s ok now…
So I was on the Blue Line headed to film a show, with 30lbs of equipment on my back (I told myself I’d never do that again) sweating, and waiting for my stop…
about two stops before mine, this guy gets on… he’s about my age, with a teardrop tattoo under her left eye, and a tattoo on his neck that said “Lucinda”. I see guys like him all the time, so I didn’t think much of it, but then he started to speak… to everyone on the train (which was crowded btw)
I can’t remember what he was saying word for word, but he pretty much said, he’s been sleeping on the trains for the past few days because his father kicked him out of his house (there was some abuse going on at home) and he said that he had nowhere to go, and all he had in his pocket was $5.40, but he needed $18 to get to Rockford, IL so he could stay with his cousin.
Okay now, if you meet anyone from a metropolitan, they’ll tell you that these stories aren’t new. People use these excuses all the time to get money from people… I didn’t believe at first either, but then I got a better look at him, and his eyes were tearing up… I paid full attention to him as he spoke, and when I looked around the train car, people were either looking down at their feet, glued to their phones, or trying to look away… I felt horrible for him.
He even offered his iPod to anyone willing to give him at least $5.
I mean… I’m struggling myself, and I’m in no position to give out money (I had enough in my wallet for a day pass to get around tomorrow)
Once he finished, he looked around for a sign from anyone… none… He slouched his shoulders, walked towards a support pole near the door and put his head on it…
I tried to see if I even had an extra dollar in my bag, but I didn’t..
My stop finally came, I walked me and my equipment to the doors and waited for them to open.. The guy was standing right next to me, lightly sobbing… I squeezed his shoulder, he looked up at me, his eyes were red and wet. I told him, “be careful”, he said thank you and that was it… I got off the train, looked back at him one last time and went to my gig…
I still feel shitty though… This dude needed some money to stay with family and all I could say was “be careful”… -______-
real talk though… whether it was the truth or not, I hope he’s ok now, and I hope he runs into someone who’s compassionate and has more money than I do to help him out…

Yesterday’s Set Up: Day Shoot
First time working from a 10 Ton Truck.. I was Best Boy Electrician… Probably the most tiring job ever -_______-… unloaded most of the truck with the help from a few grips, ran power from the generator truck to cover the whole set and at the end of the night, had to wrap all of the cables… ALL OF THEM O_______O
about 12 20ft stingers (pretty much extension cords) and the collective cords for the ground, neutral and hot wires (which weighed about 70lbs (2)
It was a good time until no one else needed power… and I just pretty much stood there until someone needed an extra hand..
awesome…

downside of living in a garden apt #12
garden apartment is just a fancy way of say, basement apartment…
summers are stuffy …winters are cold
and the windows are up near the ceiling… people can crouch down and peer inside my window while I sleep if their hearts desire -________-
I’m sitting in the living, playing God of War.. I hear liquid trickling… I look towards the window, a man pulls up his pants, and walks away O_______O
da fuck?
I would’ve seen all his giblets had they not been covered by a giant wrench

Day 9 of shooting…
We shot in an old ballroom in one of the old hotels in Hyde Park… pieces of paints chips and dust were falling from the ceiling, people were coughing… I was in there for 20 minutes when my throat started itching, my lungs felt kind of heavy, then I started couching pretty hard…
hopefully that wasn’t asbestos… O_______O
anywho, woke up the next day hacking like my father and scratching at my eyes…
I went back anyway… he had masks… it was a good time..
During lunch, a PA, the sound guy and I went exploring in one of the dark rooms… looked like a location for Saw 6… we climbed a set of stairs and found a floating door that lead to the roof… Hoisted ourselves up and out and breathed in fresh air… i chickened out though -________-
Day 12 now… last day of shooting… I think I’ll miss the people more than anything …
